I don’t remember not having uncle Dick. He has always been a part of my life as far back as I am able to remember, and I am thankful for that. When I was a little kid (and he was a big kid) he made time to spend with me to make my birthday extra special, or make an adventure out of a normal summer day, or take me to get an ice cream cone on a school night. He was the “cool uncle” that understood, so when he talked I listened. But what is really cool is that when I talked he listened. Uncle Dick met me in Oakland when I got back from Viet Nam, and took me home. I’ll never forget seeing his smiling, loving face that day. When I hear Dick’s name it makes me feel happy. It always has and always will.

    I love you uncle Dick

We will always remember Dick as smiling and laughing, upbeat, positive, optimistic. That is the image of him that will stay with us.

Just as Dennis mentioned, I remember Uncle Dick as our cool uncle who listened to our tales and had fun with us. Uncle Dick took Dennis and me skiing for the very first time in our lives at Berthoud Pass, CO.
Already realizing that his hips would not allow him to do much skiing any more, he gave us his wooden skis, boots, and poles which we traded off (argued over) for a few years thereafter, until we could get our own skis.
Like our dad, Uncle Dick knew the Denver area like the palm of his hand, and took us to neat restaurants, parks, and places we would not otherwise have gone. I remember he drove a 1952 or 53 Ford with a V-8 flat-head in it which I thought was really cool when I was kid, and even think they’re really cool now!
One more special memory of mine which influenced me greatly was his adventurous love of gourmet and exotic foods of all types. He modeled the wonderful concept of trying new foods, and taught us to enjoy being adventurous in our food choices. I’m grateful that I now like something other than hamburgers, chocolate pie, and mashed potatoes and gravy! Thanks, Uncle Dick!
    Love forever,

    Donn

I only spent about a total of 6 hours with Dick and Donna on our visit to Hawaii in Feb 2013 and can only imagine the pain of losing such a wonderful person in all your lives. Thoughts, prayers and good wishes to all. A big hug to Donna! You are a very special lady!
